For the Salad:
- 100 g potato chips fried or baked; homemade or store-bought
- 1 large tomato diced
- 1 small onion julienned
- 1 small carrot peeled into strips
- 1 tsp black pepper powder
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
For the Dressing:
- 1 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1/2 tbsp tomato ketchup
Optional Add-Ins:
- 1 medium potato for homemade chips
- Diced apples or orange segments for sweetness
Prepare the Vegetables: Dice the tomato into large chunks. Slice the onion into thin julienne strips.Use a vegetable peeler to create long carrot strips.
Make Homemade Potato Chips (Optional):Thinly slice a medium potato. Soak the slices in ice-cold, salted water for 1 hour or refrigerate them. Heat oil in a frying pan over high heat, then reduce the flame to low. Fry the potato slices until golden and crispy. Let them cool completely.
Prepare the Dressing:In a small mixing bowl, combine mayonnaise and tomato ketchup until smooth. Adjust the quantities to taste.
Assemble the Salad:Arrange diced tomatoes and julienned onions in the center of the serving plate. Create a decorative ring with potato chips around the vegetables.Layer the carrot strips on top of the vegetables.
Add Dressing and Final Touches:Drizzle the mayonnaise-ketchup dressing over the vegetables. Sprinkle with salt and black pepper to taste.Garnish with fresh coriander leaves for a burst of color and flavor.
